While mostly known for its narrow streets of luxury boutiques, the isle of Capri has so much more to offer. Its combination of rusticity and glamour creates an atmosphere unlike any other, where visitors can enjoy simple and sophisticated pleasures, while surrounded by the breath-taking landscape.
My own personal pleasure is to visit a charming traditional restaurant, called La Palette. Located at the height of Capri, in a small street, this restaurant is the perfect place to escape from the bustle of downtown Capri during the summer. The ambiance is lively, as visitors find themselves in the company of a mixture of locals, regulars, and like-minded travellers seeking authentic experiences. Regarding the food, customers can enjoy tasty dishes made of fresh and local ingredients, alongside a startling view of Capri and the Mediterranean Sea. All dishes are served at a reasonable price, and as a regular visitor, I can vouch for the quality of the food being consistently high. For prima piatti, I would recommend the delicious homemade ravioli capresi, they are my favourite!
If you find yourself not used to so much serenity you could always mix things up with an escapade to the beautifully chaotic and messy city that is Naples. With its delicious Neapolitan Pizza and crowded narrow streets, Naples can be described as the embodiment of the real South Italian lifestyle. After all, it is where pizza comes from! As a frequent visitor, I find that Naples is a city that never fails to stimulate the senses. You will find me there often, at my favorite pizzeria Da Michele, an authentic traditional Neapolitan pizzeria, which is one of the many gems Naples has to offer.
But as much as I love visiting Naples, as a Capri lover I sometimes feel overwhelmed when diverting from the island lifestyle. That is why going back to this small paradise is always relieving. If you feel that the exhilarating buzz of Naples is not for you, you could always pay a visit to the Amalfi Coast. The Amalfi Coast, which is widely reputed for its dramatic beauty, can be easily reached from Capri by boat
